This page will allow you to download a Sketchpad document consisting of a a library of commonly used geometric figures. The figures are listed below with a short description, at any time you may click on the figure and see the final product. If you like what you find click on Library of Tools, and enjoy.
FIGURES:
Equilateral
Triangle- When you select this
tool, click a point somewhere on the page and then drag a desired distance.
You will automatically have drawn an equilateral triangle with sides your
desired length.
Square-
Select this tool, click a point anywhere on the document and then drag
a desired distance. You will automatically drawn a square with sides
of your desired length.
Pentagon-
There are two different tools for creating a pentagon. One creates
the pentagon,
given the length of each side. And the other, constructs a pentagon,
given the distance from the center to one of the vertices(Radius).
Again just select wich ever tool you're interested in and then click a
point on your document and drag to your desired length. Voila!
The Nine Point Circle- The Nine-Point circle for any triangle passes through the three mid-points of the sides, the three feet of the altitudes, and the three mid-points of the segments from the respective vertices to orthocenter. Construct the nine points, locate the center (N) and construct the nine point circle.
When you choose
this tool, click and drag a desired length of the side of a triangle. Automatically
you will receive a triangle with it's Nine Point Circle. Now select
the arrow tool and drag the points if you would like to see the Circle
for other triangles.
Trisect
Any Line Segment- Select this
tool, Click and drag a segment to your desired length. The construction
given shows how the trisection was constructed. If you don't want
those in your picture-click on the all the unwanted segments, points, and
lines- then use the Hide Objects tool.
Hexagon-
This tool constructs a regular hexagon given the distance from the center
to one of the vertices. As before select the tool, then click and
drag the radius to your desired length.
Octagon- This tool constructs an octagon given a radius, exactly like the hexagon above.
