Student Organization Council Committee Job Description

  • Position is a 9 month commitment: July 2008 - April 1009, with December off.
  • 4 - 10 hours/week (Summer months will average more hours than academic year)
  • $140/month stipend

Core Responsibilities:

  • Create SOC Policy Manual
  • Understand Student Code of Conduct, SOC Policies, SFC Polices, and SALP policies
  • Work with SFC in regards to transferring SOC organizations to SFC
  • Assist in hiring
  • Maintain timely communication with all SOC staff
  • Prepare reports as requested by SOC Coordinators
  • Create and manage SOC Budget Forms
  • Attend viewpoint neutrality training

  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students and professionals
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, group facilitation, and public speaking skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Be a self-motivated & self-directed individual
  • Experience working with student organizations, student-centered events, and/or program development
  • Ability to serve as a role model and mentor
  • Positive attitude
  • Experience as committee and team leader
  • Desire to be a team-player
  • Commitment to a co-curricular student experience
  • Ability to balance academic requirements with position requirements; all stipend recipients must take a minimum of 6 undergraduate/5 graduate level credits at Portland State University during Fall, Winter and Spring quarters
