Door Sales
Door sales are defined as taking admission at the event. The Student Organization must work with the PSU Box Office to collect door sales. The Box Office will charge an hourly amount per staff person to sell tickets. Revenue from door sales, minus the staff charges, will be deposited into the student organization account.
Advance Sales Advance sales are defined as any time tickets are sold in advance either in person or over the internet. If a student organization wishes to have tickets available in advance, they can choose to have them available through Ticket Master for internet and Ticket Master location purchases. Portland State University has an exclusive contract with Ticket Master for all internet ticket sales. The PSU Box Office charges a service charge to customers for all advance tickets. Ticket Master charges a service fee to customers for all internet purchases. It is encouraged that the student organization advertise the cost of tickets as being the total cost the customer will be charged for advance tickets.

Donations
Donations at the door are defined as any time a participant may freely enter an event with no pressure to pay and are asked for a voluntary donation. Student organizations are required to deposit the money immediately after the event. The prompt deposit of cash receipts reduces the risk of loss due to error or theft. It also lowers the risk of returned checks due to non-sufficient funds or accounts being closed.
- Prior to an event in which the PSU Box Office is not involved but monies will be collected (for events occurring after regular business hours), a member of the student organization collecting money needs to obtain a cash bag and a deposit slip from the SALP Office.
- Following the event, a member of the organization and an additional witness will count and account all collected monies and deposit in the cash bag along with a deposit slip.
- Locked cash bag will be delivered to the SALP safe, located outside of the SALP Office, SMSU 119.
