Choir Council Positions Available!

The Choir council at PSU is a student group dedicated to bringing an educational experience to all students interested in the choral arts. It is our mission to provide singing as well as audience opportunity to those students as well as provide opportunities for travel for choral purposes.
It is also the duty of the council to provide musical experience to the students who may not be able to enroll in the present choirs at PSU.
It is also included that the said officers must make a concerted effort every year for out reach to the community.
Attributes of council members include; honesty, communication skills, punctuality, creativity, and dependability. They each foster a desire to see the choral arts succeed at every level for any students that harbor desires to be involved.
Positions Needed:
Coordinator: Oversee every aspect of choir business - Delegate tasks - Be the voice of Choir Council at PSU - Manage and plan Choir Council functions - Chair Council meetings -Meet weekly with administrator to ensure that both parties have current updated information about group efforts. - Represent the choir to other administrative bodies (on campus and off campus). Oversee event planning. - Schedule meetings with Choir Council members weekly or bi weekly.- Responsible for maintaining a full council membership. - With input from administrator and council, appoint volunteer positions and fill vacant council seats. This position receives a 425 stipend.
Choir Council Administrator: Plan choir budget - Organize monies for travels, purchases, rentals, lectures, master classes, etc. - Communicate with SFC liaison - Responsible for ensuring that all financial and other transactions are managed in a timely effective manner. - Manage paperwork for all group events.- Keep accurate, detailed records of council expenditures. - Help plan for and record minutes for Council meetings - Ensure that travel logistics are managed effectively and oversee all publicity endeavors. This position receives a $335 stipend.

Popular Music Board - Promotions Coordinator

We're hiring for a Promotions Coordinator. This is a part-time leadership learning position, with a $420/mo. stipend, for PSU students taking 8 or more credits. The required time commitment is 10-12 hours/week, 2 of which must coincide with the Program Coordinator's office hours. Qualifications include promotional and marketing experience or education, graphic design, web design, desktop publishing, and advertisement experience. We're hoping to find a music-loving individual motivated to make every event of ours a well-attended success, and to bring our group innovative, ear-catching public attention. The requirements and duties are as follows:
- Updating the PMB's website and promotional calendars
- Making paper advertisements (newspaper, flyers, etc.)
- Making audio advertisements for radio play
- Designing group graphics, and contracting outside groups for design/promotion
- Maintaining office hours that coincide with those of the program coordinator, and keeping records of work
- Help us devise strategies to get noticed
Most importantly this is a part-time LEADERSHIP position. Much of the work will be self-directed, but your goal should always be to get us noticed, and to make sure that each event is well-attended. Your creative promotional ideas, your communication skills, and your artistic flare will be your most valuable assets. Pre-Law Society

The Pre-Law Society is an organization run by students for students who have come to the society from varying backgrounds and from diverse majors, all with one goal in mind. Acceptance into law school.
The Pre-Law Society is currently looking for officers for the 2008-2009 academic school year.
The following positions are open: Officer of Community Outreach, Officer of Marketing, Webmaster.
Officer of Community Outreach:
The Community Outreach Coordinator's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning events and meetings, reporting community events that are sponsored by the LSAC, LSAT, and/or the American Bar Association, generating ideas for fundraisers, interacting with possible guest speakers and introducing leads to the Pre-Law Society.
Officer of Marketing:
The Marketing responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning events and meetings, preparing flyers and cooperating with the SALP for distribution, maintaining contact with Faculty about upcoming events and marketing appropriately, creating and developing the Pre-Law Society newsletter to be given to the Webmaster for posting
Webmaster:
The Webmaster's responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning events and meetings, updating the website as needed, posting the Newsletter prepared by the Marketing officer, communicating web needs to the USS and or OIT. The Webmaster shall post minutes of meetings which will be recorded by the Secretary.

Popular Music Board

The Popular Music Board is a Student Fee Funded student organization that programs national and local music for the PSU campus community, as well as provides sound support for various activities across campus. This organization has a long history of being very active and is involved with many activities across campus. PMB is considered a service organization. The Sound Technician positions are open to all currently enrolled Portland State University students carrying at least eight undergraduate credits or six graduate credit hours per term.
Educational Value Through guidance and instruction received from the Production Coordinator, the Sound Technicians will master skills in sound production and its subsequent technical requirements, sound production on a large scale, as well as networking with other sound professionals in the community.
Expectation of Time - This position is funded for 10-15 hours per week. The Sound Technician must be available to work on during the Noon Gigs - Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am - 2pm and various evening events as scheduled.
Duties and Responsibilities: · Trains on set up and running of sound equipment weekly (this can include reading manuals, stage plots, etc.) · Works the Wednesday and Friday noon gigs (Fall - Spring) and Tuesday and Thursday noon gigs (Summer) from 10:30am - 2:00pm. · Works evening gigs as assigned or volunteered.
Sound Technicians will learn to use the production equipment, the goal being to reach the point of mastery and to understand every aspect of event production. The Sound Technicians report directly to the Production Coordinator.
