Funding your Student Organization
SOC
The Student Organization Council (SOC) is a student-run group that is responsible
for funding a section of student groups and enhancing leadership on campus.
SOC funds new groups or groups with smaller annual budgets (generally less than
$3000). Groups can request funding through SOC if they have been officially
recognized by Student Activities and Leadership Programs and they are not getting
SFC money directly. Please contact SOC for more information.

SFC
The Student Fee Committee (SFC) is a group of elected students that decides
how student fees will be collected, used, and accounted for. They allocate money
to many different areas of the University, however close to 50% go to fund student
organizations and services. In order for a student organization to request money
from the SFC, they must have been a recognized student organization through
SALP and go through the budgeting process. Groups seeking funding go through
an extensive budgeting process in fall and winter terms for the next fiscal
year's budget. Please go to the SFC website for more information.
Speakers Board
The Speakers Board is a student fee funded board composed of three students
and three faculty members. The board considers requests from student organizations
and academic departments that bring speakers of educational importance to PSU.
An average request is typically in the range of $200-$1500. In order to accommodate
as many requests as possible, the Board limits requests to $2000 per event.
In addition, no one department or student organization will be allocated more
than $3000 per academic year.
AAA
The Academically-Controlled Auxiliary Activities (AAA) is a volunteer committee composed of faculty, staff, and students. AAA is funded by the Student Fee Committee and provides support for educational, aesthetic and institutional activities which have the potential of contributing to the academic experiences and development of students. Funding is available to support individual students and student groups who travel to participate in faculty-governed scholarly conferences for the purposes of presenting papers, participating in panels, or giving creative performances or presentations. For further information or to apply for funding please see the AAA guidelines.
Revenue
A student group may do fundraisers or collect membership dues to bring in revenue.
Groups that are directly funded by student fees generally account for this in
their budget. New or SOC funded groups may ask for an "agency account" that
they can deposit money into and use for group services and supplies.
