Assistant Director Position

Position Summary

This position reports to the Director of Student Activities and Leadership Programs. The Assistant Director will serve the needs of students and SALP by providing leadership, guidance and advising to the department and student groups. This position is responsible for advising Student Government (ASPSU); advising Greek Council, fraternities and sororities; supervising the Graduate Assistant; overseeing risk management procedures and policies for student organizations and events; and acting as the judicial officer when cases are delegated to SALP by the Office of the Dean of Students.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following: an understanding of student development; ability to work collaboratively and develop partners across campus; ability to advocate for students on campus; excellent organizational and communication skills; an understanding of policy development and risk management in a university setting; ability to motivate others; understanding of the Student Code of Conduct and the ability to adjudicate possible violations of it.
Candidates for the Assistant Director position must possess a Master's degree and two years of experience working in student activities. Prior experience event planning, working with adult students, advising Student Government and advising Greek Life preferred.

Compensation

This is a 1.0 FTE appointment represented by AAUP bargaining agreement and compensation is $39,500-45,000 plus an excellent benefits package with fully paid healthcare, generous retirement and vacation packages, and tuition reduction for the employee and dependents at all Oregon University System institutions (see the PSU BenefitsOverview). The preferred start date for this position is as soon as possible, and no later than July 1, 2008.
