Welcome to travel and information guides for the Steens Mountain area in southeastern Oregon. These guides were created by students at Portland State University as class projects in Professor Alex Ruzicka's "Geology of the Northern Basin and Range" Capstones class (UNST 421) on behalf of the Great Basin Society and the Malheur Field Station. You are invited to link to the products created by students in different semesters below. Link to Fall 2000 Guide. Students researched and contributed content to a student "Webmaster" who created all the pages using Dreamweaver software. Pages are not printable. Link to Spring 2001 Guide. Students created their own pages using Netscape Composer software, greatly expanding on the Fall 2000 Guide, including an enlarged Tourist Info section with clickable maps.
