Computed Tomography (CT Scan)
Since the first x-rays in 1896, planar x-ray images have been used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Computed Tomography (CT) was born out of x-ray imaging and provides superior spatial resolution. In this series, students listen to an expert in the field over the course of six short videos to learn the advantages of CT over other imaging modalities and under what circumstances it is best used. Homework and lab activities focus on the following topics:

In the video series above Dr. Weissman provides a brief history of x-rays, also known as radiography, and how it has developed to include modern day CT scanning. She discusses the safety, benefits, and limitations of CT as well as how manipulation of certain parameters can help to achieve optimum results.
