HW2

1. Determine the binding energy of a Deuteron, which is the nucleus of a Deuterium atom, i.e. the nucleus of a hydrogen atom that contains one proton and one neutron each.

2. A forth-millennium spaceship moves away from its space station at a speed of 0.6 c. Both the spaceship and the space station are in empty space. Perpendicular to the motion of this spaceship with respect to the space station, the spaceship shoots off a forth- millennium "charged particle bullet" gun. The muzzle speed of the "charged particle bullets" is 0.9 c.

What speed will a stationary observer in the space station measure for the "charged particle bullets"?

5 points, describe your reasoning and show all intermediate results.
