Bellissimonde’s Monty “The Drummer” Cowles combines the drum kit

with international percussive instruments. Her musical range includes

classical to country, rhythm-and-blues to world music. She has

accompanied internationally-known musicians and vocalists, including

Charlie Pride, Rosalie Sorrels, and Christine Lakeland, in addition to local

talents Janice Scroggins, Jim Mesi, Margo Tufo, Sylvia Hackathorn, and

Lance Frodsham. Master drummer Souhail Kaspar says he “hears her heart

and soul in her drumming.”

A musical perfectionist, Monty’s the steady, and steadying, beat of

Bellissimonde. Yep, all those rhythms are comin’ from one lone drummer.

Amazing! (She’s also a Garden Goddess, canning queen, and one helluva

cook. She’s particularly proud to be “the daughter of an engineer”.)

Kevin Ferguson is Da Man! He brings amazing energy and creativity to

Bellissimonde, and we try to keep up. He’s played many styles on many

instruments on both coasts, but currently he calls Portland his home and

guitar his main instrument. But you may see him with Bellissimonde playing

drums, violin, even the recorder. Versatile!

And he’s a musical adventurer, that one. He wants to “learn at least one

tune from every country in the world.” That goal has brought him to some

great music—from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.

And his own original compositions are movers and shakers.

Kevin’s music has been heard on five continents and receives world-wide
