BELLISSIMONDE |
|
The electric world music of Bellissimonde hails from North Africa, Turkey, Greece, Armenia, Egypt, Spain, and even Hungary, Ireland and the States. Intriguing melodies and complex rhythms fuse with American rock & roll. Ancient instruments enhance hard-driving electronics. Our two musicians represent decades of musical experience and experimentation.
Our dance foundation is the folkloric styling of American Tribal belly dance. It includes authentic dance movement from Greece, Turkey, Egypt, North Africa, India and Spain. The dance includes tribal-style improvisation, lead-and-follow, and cued movement. Also, original choreography reflects mimetic harvest rituals, study with dancer-historians from several countries. Most especially, our dance springs from the music itself: fluid, complex, intriguing.
A Bellissimonde performance doesn’t strictly reflect the traditions of the cultures we have come to appreciate, yet international audiences have said that we capture the soul of the countries represented in our music and dance. We remind them affectionately of home.
Audiences of all ages have a good time at our performances. And so do we.
Bellissimonde performs at festivals, restaurants and private parties in the Pacific Northwest. Oregon venues include: Art in the Pearl, Artichoke Music’s Backgate Stage, Cherrywood Village Retirement Community, Lake Oswego Farmers’ Market, McMenamins (Edgefield, Grand Lodge, and Kennedy School), Oregon Zoo, Portland Community College, Portland Rose Festival, Portland State University, Salem Art and Music Festival, Wilsonville Festival of the Arts.
