It
is difficult to determine what art is. Art could be anything that
exist and not exist on the world. The art creations are the movement,
drama, any design, songs, and poet. Music plays in important rules
to every human being. It is relaxing, fun, enjoy and it could express
our feeling without talk in words. Sometimes it we talk it out in
words, would make us in trouble of the time that people have no freedom
to speak at all. But if we were put ourselves in the rhythm of music, it
would release all of these depressions. The Cambodian government did not
allow us to listen or sings the Soft Music of 1975 to 1979. It was not
right at all because we all should know what everything details that happened
in the pass. Music tells us the story of history. So Cambodian government
should allow us that in Cambodia to study our own history through the music.
Also nowadays, Cambodian music have damage some of the Cambodian teenager
and elder men.
For
the music and radio, Khmer Rough was allowed the people to listen or play
only what they had. The stations that they had only something that
tells people that whatever they had done to us was a right way. For
example: they would have or convincing good Cambodian people to be like
them. Killing without thinking, even to the family and there love
one. Personally, I do not think that Khmer Rough have a heart like
human beings like us, they killed everyone, friends, family and their love
one. They made younger children work in the rice farm. Whenever
they killed people, they would have the victim dug a whole in a landscape
to put their dead body in. After that Khmer Rough would use the farm
tools, hit them on the back neck. So then they fail into the digging whole.
Whenever I thought of this cold blood, I thought that People have no freedom
of listening. They all were just listening to Khmer Rough people
being ruling us.
In our history through out many generations, we love the art forms.
Our art forms were based on the dance. The dances are related to
the music, but nowadays the government still allows us to use the songs
of the dance. They thought that is our traditional.-----I WILL ADD
ON MORE, I HAVE TO FIND MORE INFORMATION-
The government did not allow us to listen to the Soft Music today because
during the Khmer Rough time, they were treated us so bad. They were
too shellfish, they think only to themselves only. They had the power
over everything, music, art and freedom. But then went we got independent
from Khmer Rough, they pretending that they tried so hard to get this independent
for our country. The true is they have two faces. When we were
in a bad time, they tried to put us even more down. When we got independent,
they wanted us to think that because of them, that is why we could be free.
Through out the Khmer radio from Philadelphia last month said that the
karaoke in down town were not allowed to open for the business. Priminister,
Hun Sen stated that too much violating in the down town and almost spread
around Cambodia country. Many of hookers have been increasing each
year. Most of them were Vietnamese that escaped out of their countries
for jobs. Women do not know what to do for a living plus they have
to support their children. Men do not have the job because it is
difficult for men to find the job. So women get out the house by
become a hookers. In the karaoke place in the down town, Phnom Penh
would build up like a hotel room for serve the group of consumers.
Most of elder men would go in this kind of place because in those hookers’
eyes think those elder men would have more money than younger men.
Younger men sometime might just ask their parents for money so and so.
Music is not the important thing to the elder Cambodian men; they wanted
to go to that place because they want to have fun with these women.
Music and the sexuality are happen in once. Then the government tried
to stop what had happen. But still some of the karaoke still
open by secretly. There would no be last of the Cambodian record
because around the world still Cambodian people support the sound of Cambodian
music. It has been import to countries around the world.
Music,
clubbing and bars are the way of damage and ruined younger and elders Cambodian
people. Most of teenager would sneak out at night to go to
clubbing. Once again music makes these people out of mind.
Music is such a thing that kills teenagers such as sneak out the house
at night, could go crazy, sometimes these teenagers would be out of mind
to think what is right and wrong.
The
government in Cambodia, there is no such a law for drinking and driving
age. If you have a car, you can drive. If you have money, you
can have everything. It is easy and simple. Like you know, Cambodian
parents are very strict to their children. So teenagers would find
their way of release it. When teenagers going to the club, they would be
drinking and having drug at the same time. Questions had been raised
up that how music had to do with clubbing and drugs. There is an
answer to it, club of course has the music and people could release their
tiredness and depression. They could have fun and forget all the
strict that their parents had done to them through the day. Teenager
once uses the music just for their excuse to go to the club. Two,
they use the music for their fun. Cambodian music has a strong influence
to Cambodian teenager. Music has the way of expressed their feeling;
they could use to the music to give the message that this boy in love with
this girl. Every music has their own meaning, love, hate, sad, missing
you, so and so.
I
hope that in the future Cambodian government will open up the study of
Cambodian history. If I was to find this kind of information in Cambodia,
I would not find anything about it because it would be none of it that
is allow in a library or bookstore. Also civilians should understand
and limited themselves of the freedom of the music.
