I
interested in the library building. Library is the place that all of Portland
State University students go use as a study tool. The shape is a half circle-sphere.
If we look by the center of this sphere building, and then we use the compass
over half of the sphere, we will see the cut of the half circle. In front
of the library, there is one big tree called “Copper Tree”. This
one tree there is only one tree that is left in Oregon. So that is lucky
that Portland State University has this kind of tree in campus. The library
is a very quiet place to focus on anything such as studying or group meeting.
Along
the window most are made out of glasses. The building itself was made out
of brick and steel. The entrance have two doors one each side. Those made
out of the glasses window. Most of the places in the library we can
see through the glasses. We also can use the elevator or stairs to
up and down to the building floors. To get in and out, we have to
use our energy to push it. When you first step in you will walk across
the metal detector to prevent from people take the book without take out
or accidentally they forgot to check out.
When
you entered on your right hand side, you will see the computer lab for
Portland State University students to use. This library have four
level and plus the basement. They have to have the Odin account to
log in the computer. On the right hand side you will see the long desk
that you can ask anything about library book. There you also can check
out and return the books. The books shells use the way of construct by
the artistic forms. It made out of steels.
When
I look at the library building of Portland State University, it reminded
me of my old high school, Aloha High School. Aloha High School does not
have much of widows. I see a lot of differences from this two building.
Library here can make us feels relax and get to join the environment out
side, the architecture did it on purpose to make all the students concentrate
on whatever they are doing with the fresh environment around. Even
though we are not out side of the building with the real fresh air, but
we could feel of those relaxing nature.
