What does Haunani mean when she says, “Not merely
a passageway to knowledge, language is a form of knowing by itself; a people’s
way of thinking and feeling is revealed through its music” Page 149

I think Haunani means that the Hawaiian people when
they communicating back and forth, it has something that constructed the
knowledge. Haunani wants to explain to us what is the music and language
really mean to Hawaiian people. Hawaiian people have the culture constructed
of knowledge that based on poetic, music, dancing and language. Then the
history of Hawaiian tradition and culture had shown. Poetic, music, dancing
and language had play in a big roll of Hawaiian culture, it have a deep
meaning of love, care, humanity and peace. It express how they feel, smell,
touch and see the way of what they are looking at the society and in their
mind. They had a strong of motions passage the message to everyone
and themselve. This knowledge of passing language gives us some way to
understand of what people really think or really mean. So when the direct
words that they had said, it is not mean directly of the words itself,
but it have the meaning that they want to get across.
Hawaiian culture is the same as Cambodian culture. When
we dance, we express our emotion and life condition. We put a lot of meaning
through dancing. When you go to Angkor Wat temple- Cambodian acient temple,
you will see the along the wall have the different type of dance carve
on it. It always have the story that was drawn or written long times ago.
It tell everyone how the history back there and how much we proude of them.
The pictures were telling the how life and what they feels. We had strongly
believed in it, just like Haunani believes in her article. She was proud
of who she was and her culture.
