The Takaki’s purpose of bringing up the idea above is to make us think about what made up America to be America today. In the article on page 334 stated that immigrants should not be allowed in America because it would be bad for the society. Actually, this thought is not right at all. If we look back through the history of America, in the very beginning, Americans were already immigrants in this new, found land, which was found in 1492 by Christopher Columbus. Takaki’s opinion is that we should let immigrant into this country by the law, because it does not mean that they come to take over America or anything but they come to help to develop this country.

On the other hand, if there is no immigrant to America like the time of Indian-Americans, they lived in the country for a very long time but the country has not been developed at all. They were using horses to travel and lived in a poor condition. When Immigrants came, they had new idea of developing buildings, railroads, cars, factories, and more. They brought their own knowledge and their culture to developed a new nation (America). Right now some people think that immigrants comes to America to take over the job and land. It is not true because they, like me for example, came to learn new things and to use our knowledge to make America become a stronger nation. It is true as some people said, “Why don’t you use your knowledge at where you lived”. In our home countries, they don’t have such opportunity because there are not many jobs and legal rights as in America; that is why America is the first place in all immigrants’ lists.

 Finally the purpose of all immigrants to America is not only to improve their life but also to make this country be more popular and stronger nation. Even though, there are fighting and conflicts between them, but it is a usual event that would happen in one community just like we bite our own tongue when we eat. And the fighting happened because they don’t understand what is it to be diverse, to live together and help gain the power for the community they live in. Yes! The White American will become a minority part of America, but it does not mean that American society will be extinct in this world. There will be Asian Americans, Mexican Americans and many others that love the country and try their best to develop the country just like what European did to America in the past. All America rules and laws will exist forever, especially the country’s name America. On top of that, they try to think of more ideas of invention and new thing that would make America to become the best country in the history that is not yet been written.
