What does Freire mean when he says, “Librating education consists in acts of cognition, not transferals of information”

I think what Freire means for the education for the student shouldn’t be just memories, but students should understand the valuable lessons.  When students get straight A’s, it doesn’t mean hat they know or learn everything.  They just memorized it for tests or just only the chapter that the test based on, and when they moved on the next chapter, they will forget the entire previous chapter.  It happened so often that we tend to ignore it.  Freire don’t want that happen, he wants students to fully understand and see what life is, and life is full of educations and never ending lessons.  However, Freire wanted to graph the concept of education and it return, we can be creative with our thoughts.  Students have knowledge, ideas and thoughts, but they do hot know how to utilize these abilities that was why Freire said teachers are the students’ programmer of life.  Students should stand up for their opinion, but when the teachers tried to give ideas, many of these ides or information from the teacher were not absorbed or sink in to the students.  Some students will understand exactly what the teachers expect while others have other agendas that make them not paying attention.  Thus they tend to be rebellious.  A teacher’s main duty is to enlighten the students of their surrounding and to fully understand the never-ending lesion in life.

The whole point is that the teacher many meant well, but bad memories bring us sorrow and grief. So we reacted differently, almost like rebellious toward the teacher and the assignment.  We have our way of copying with the lost of our loved one and we don’t need our teacher to bring back the sad memory.  In conclusion, many of us teenagers will be rebellious toward authorities such as our parents and our teachers that we felt that they have forced us to do thing that is against our own free will. In America, we were raised to be free of choice to choose our own doing even when the authority’s figures meant well.
