Our own dokuwiki cheat-sheet

Signature button

When editing, you can sign your posts using a signature button:

  • Just above the editing window, the 3rd button from the right
  • It inserts the following code:
     --- //[[nkuzma@pdx.edu|Prof. Nicholas Kuzma]] 2015/04/16 13:18//
  • Which looks like this: — Prof. Nicholas Kuzma 2015/04/16 13:18

Paragraph layout

New paragraph

Simply insert two line breaks in your code (press ENTER twice when editing):

paragraph 1

paragraph 2

paragraph 1

paragraph 2

New line

Use

line 1 \\ line 2

to separate lines without creating a new paragraph:
line 1
line 2

Note that \\ should be surrounded by spaces.

Bullet and number lists

Begin a new line of code with two spaces and a star or dash, followed by another space, to create bulleted or numbered lists:

  * bullet 1
  * bullet 2
  * bullet 3
  • bullet 1
  • bullet 2
  • bullet 3
  - number 1
  - number 2
  - number 3
  1. number 1
  2. number 2
  3. number 3

Nested lists

Mix and match nested bullets and/or numbers by using 4, 6, 8, or more spaces before the star or dash:

  - number 1 (two spaces, dash, space)
    - subnumber a (four spaces, dash, space)
    - subnumber b (four spaces, dash, space)
      * sub-subbullet (six spaces, star, space)
    - another subnumber (four spaces, dash, space)
    * another subbullet (four spaces, star, space)
  - another number (two spaces, dash, space)
  1. number 1 (two spaces, dash, space)
    1. subnumber a (four spaces, dash, space)
    2. subnumber b (four spaces, dash, space)
      • sub-subbullet (six spaces, star, space)
    3. another subnumber (four spaces, dash, space)
    • another subbullet (four spaces, star, space)
  2. another number (two spaces, dash, space)

Warning

Make sure there are no empty lines or hidden “new lines” in your code to maintain continuous numbering:

  - new item
    - nested item 1
    - nested item 2
    - nested item 3 with a hidden
new line
    - oops! A new list starts after a break in lines in the previous item
  1. new item
    1. nested item 1
    2. nested item 2
    3. nested item 3 with a hidden

new line

  1. oops! A new list starts after a break in lines in the previous item
