Accommodations & Transportation

 

The following are suggested accommodations for those attending SQMS from out of town. Hotels are within easy walking distance of campus and located within the downtown Portland area, accessible to local restaurants and attractions such as the Portland Art Museum and the Portland Farmer’s Market, brewpubs, and wine bars.  Convenient public transportation is available via Portland Streetcar, light rail, and bus within the downtown area.  Portland’s stylish, gallery-rich Pearl District is a 5 minute streetcar ride or a 10-15 minute walk.

Located at the edge of the downtown Portland State University Campus, seven blocks from the center of downtown and within two blocks of the Portland Streetcar line. $$

There are a variety of other hotel options available in downtown Portland within 1 mile of campus.

Airport Ground Transportation
The airport is 14 miles from PSU. Expect a taxi to cost approximately $25 - $35 and to take approximately 20 minutes with no traffic. Allow up to 40 minutes at rush hour.

Lyft and Uber both operate in the Portland area.

The MAX light rail from the airport (adult 2-hr all-zone pass is $2.50).  The MAX Red Line light rail service runs from the airport through downtown Portland every 15 minutes (from 4:44 AM until 11:29 PM daily). A one-way trip from the airport to downtown Portland takes about 40 minutes. The MAX Red Line makes 10 stops downtown and provides convenient access to area hotels. You can purchase tickets from automated ticket machines located in the airport lobby near the baggage claim area as well as on the MAX station platform. To get to the PSU campus, take the MAX Red Line to the Pioneer Place/SW 5th Avenue Station.  Exit the MAX Red Line and walk to the MAX/Green & Yellow Line stop across the street on 5th Avenue between Morrison and Yamhill Streets.  Both the Green and Yellow MAX Lines stop on the PSU campus.  Visit the TriMet website for more information.
