Today, we are going to chat online. We are going to talk to the other MAP students at the South East Campus, who knows maybe even Maria will chat with us.
But, first we are going to learn some online slang and practice using present progressive.
Our Goals:
- Get to know other students in the MAP program.
- Learn to chat using AOL instant messenger.
- Learn new slang terms used in chat.
- Review present progressive.
Begin by Reviewing Present Progressive:
- Online quizzes about present progressive:
- Quiz: About talking while sitting at the computer.
- Quiz: About a person playing a guitar.
- Give your scores to the teacher and ask her any questions.
Now Learn Some Slang!

- LOL: laugh out loud (You say LOL when something is funny.)
- BRB: be right back (You say BRB when you have to leave for a few seconds.)
- TTYL: talk to you later (You say TTYL at the end of a conversation.)
- <3: Heart (You say <3 instead of the word love.)
- GR8: great
- H8: hate
- GFU: good for you (You say GFU to encourage someone.)
- plz: please (You can say plz to be polite or to act sarcastic.)
- OMG: ohh my God (You say OMG when you are surprised.)
