Final Review Packet

Final Review Solutions and solutions to #4 and #5 of 5.6 on the review packet

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

8/11: The solutions to worksheet 4 are posted. If you have questions please email me. #31 on 5.6 is more challenging than I thought. It is a bonus problem (for the optional homework).

8/10: Final is on Thursday from 8-10:20. It is cumulative. Tomorrow in class we will review questions from Worksheet 4. (If you were not in class please review it for tomorrow.) The final review packet and 5.6 are both optional homework: it will boost your graded homework percentages if you turn it in but it won't harm your grade if you don't. Also, there are a number of errors on the review packet. Several graphs are missing. (You can make up your own.) Also, #11 in the review material should read “f(x)=-2x2+x+3”. Please let me know if there are questions or other errors.

8/8: The midterm review solutions are posted above. I have only posted solutions to the first half of the material. The second half of the packet is review material and the solutions are not posted.

8/4: There has been a homework change. Only 5.3 and the problems from review section 7 are due tomorrow. The quiz tomorrow is over 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3.

7/29: Quiz 5 solutions are posted above.

7/22: Midterm solutions are posted above. I should have them graded by Monday.

7/21: There is an optional midterm start time of 8:30 am tomorrow. The exam is written to be a 50 minute exam, but for students who struggle with time pressure, you are welcome to come early. If you have questions please contact me. There was an error in the updating of the e-journal information, thus I am extending the e-journal deadline to Wednesday night at 11 pm. Also, there has been a homework change. I am shortening the homework for 4.3 that is due Thursday. You will not be responsible for knowing how to factor polynomials for the midterm.

7/18: The midterm is this Thursday, July 22.  It will cover sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2, 3.4, 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3.  You will NOT be able to use your notes or homework during the exam, however you will be allowed a calculator. There will be no quiz this week.  The next quiz will be July 29th.

7/16: Midterm review solutions are HERE! There is a typo in 3.1 #1 that should read f(x)=3(x+4)2-7. Please let me know if you see other errors in the review or the solutions.

7/15: Quiz 4 solutions are posted above. I'll have the solutions to the midterm review posted by Saturday. I have also found a couple of typos in the midterm review. I will post a complete list as soon as the solutions are completed. Please let me know if you find any errors. Also, I have posted blank copies of the quizzes that you can use for study purposes.

7/14: Homework 3.2 and 3.4 is due tomorrow (Thurs. 7/15). The quiz tomorrow will be over sections 2.5, 3.1 and 3.2. Problems 2 and 3 from Worksheet 3 are assigned as homework and will be due next Tuesday 7/14. Problem 4 is extra credit.

Also, the much anticipated review packet is complete! It will be due the day of the midterm, 7/22.

7/13: As promised, here are a couple of links to quadratic formula songs. The first has the words http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8ezDEk3qCg ; the second is karaoke style http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSQ7nxjmXXg. The song is annoying enough to get stuck in your head, but that might be what we are going for. Also, the quiz this Thursday will be over sections 2.5, 3.1 and 3.2.

7/8: There has been a shift in the calendar and homework assignments. Please check the updated pages for the shift of homework timing.

7/7: There has been a homework change. There is a shortened assignment due for section 2.5. Check the homework page. The remaining problems will still be due next Tuesday. The quiz this week is only over sections 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4.

7/1: No class on Monday (7/5) due to the holiday weekend. Homework on 2.2 will be due on Tuesday 7/6.

6/29: Tomorrow the quiz will only be over sections 1.3, 1.4, 2.1 and worksheet 2. Homework to be turned in will only include 2.1 and review problems (if you were assigned review problems). We did not cover enough of 2.2 for it to be assigned.

6/28: Please note the change in homework listed under the homework page. The problems on the difference quotient will not be due until Thursday. However, the homework for 1.3 and 1.4 (except for #93 and #97) will be due tomorrow (Tuesday 6/29).

6/23:  There has been a change in my office hours.  I will have one hour before class, 8:00-9:00am on Wednesday and Thursday morning in Neuberger 3rd floor atrium.  I will keep my office hour Tuesday 10:30-11:30 in my office, NH 430M (on the mezzanine level).  Remember, there is a quiz tomorrow (Thurs. 6/24) over sections 1.1, 1.2 and the review material, and homework for those sections and the review packet will be due as well

6/22: Welcome to math 111! Homework 1 is posted, which includes two handouts as well as problems from 1.1.  There will be a quiz this Thursday, 6/24 over the pre-requisite material and sections 1.1 and 1.2. (In case you were wondering, the background of this webpage is white.)
