Purpose: to educate students on stress management
Goal: students recognize and describe stress in their lives and have multiple ways to combat it
Objective: students come out of mentor session with knowledge of resources on campus, have a table of time they spend on things in their lives weekly. They also have a plane of action to elviate stress and find time to relax (relaxation techniques)
Anticipatory set: do relaxation techniques on page 138 in meditation book. Helps students identify stress in their bodies and then relax. (5 min)
Body:
1. Scientific and psychological explanation of stress, what is it, why do we have it? (2 min)
2. Offer stress management techniques and resources around campus, Caps, meditation, physical activity, time management, etc. (3 min)
3. Take stress test on line (5 min)
4. Plot out what students do every week and how much time they spend doing things (10 min)
5. Make a plan of action to combat stress (the rest of the time)
