Hitachi S-4160 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM)

Over Summer and Fall terms of 2012 I grokked and resurrected a
Hitachi S-4160 Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM)
that was donated to the Portland State University Department of Physics
when the assets of the former OGI (Oregon Graduate Institute),
championed and sopnsored by the late Howard Vollum (Co-Founder of Tektronix, Inc.),
were distributed after its demise.

Once I grokked and resurrected the S-4160, it was used by
multiple Physics and Chemistry Ph.D. canditates in the pursuit of their Ph.D. degrees.

For almost 5 years, while I was a young engineer in the
Hybrid Circuits Engineering group of Tek Labs (Tektronix Inc's research division),
Howard Volum was exactly one floor above and about
100 yards towards the front of Building 50, the Tektronix Technical Center.
Cool beyond belief!
