2nd Term Diversity Reflections

What did I learn about diversity in the second term? I don't know if I so much learned anything new about diversity the noun, but more the adjective. In the first term we sort of grounded ourselves in the meaning of diversity, making sure everyone knew what it was. This term we seem to be seeing that definition in action, from the books we are reading to the guest speaker we had. Through this we have been getting a different picture of what diversity is, and I think a more complete one.

This term we are now being shown that diversity is not a thing or a different version of our lives, but a completely different way of living. With some of these people we read about, the fact that we are human is pretty much the only thing we have in common. What we are learning is that this is not a bad thing, but a different thing. Different, strange, weird, odd; all these words have a bad connotation to them, and what I think we are learning this term is that these words shouldn't have a bad feeling associated with them, but a curious feeling, one that desires to know more about this strange, odd thing called diversity. This could be some really deep stuff, or it could make no sense at all, you decide. I don't know, but I think that's where we went this term.
