As the year 2002 was coming to a close, I was 16 and Mr. Hewitt's U.S. History class was wrapping up with a tough assignment: portray, using all the media you can, one aspect of the 1960s.I had just taught myself iMovie and was anxious to make this something memorable. I made a 40-minute documentary (stealing most of my footage from PBS and CNN specials), got Micheal Hansen to narrate it, and thus received the first A+ in the history of Mr. Hewitt's final projects.
Probably because I included excerpts of an old TV broadcast in which Portland, my home city, demonstrates what it would do in a nuclear war. It's creepy.
