GEOG 4/575 Final Report Guideline

 

Each project group is required to submit a typed project paper by 3:30 pm on Dec 7. The structure of the final paper will be similar to your proposal. Total length, not including maps, tables, or figures, of the paper should not exceed 8 pages (double-spaced).

 

The paper should include the following information.

 

  1. Background: A short paragraph describing the applications associated with the GIS database and the significance and contribution of these applications to a broader context.
  2. Design objectives: Describe the specific objectives that you accomplished in your project.
  3. Data layer specifications and geographic extents: Describe your study area, the GIS data layers, and the topological characteristics of these data layers.
  4. Methods and techniques: Describe the method and specific GIS techniques you used to compile and manipulate your data.
  5. Demonstration application: First, describe the intended applications of your GIS database and how your specific database design facilitates such applications. Then, present your demonstration application using the database you created.
  6. Results: Describe the results of your demonstration application. Results can be maps, findings, procedures (or algorithms), or a combination of them.
  7. Limitations: State what could be the limitations of your database and why.
