Chapter 7 : Raster Data

Task 3 (optional). If you have not had GIS II, it would be good experience to do this short exercise.

 

Chapter 11: Raster Data Analysis

Do only Tasks 1, 2 and 3.

 

Chapter 12: Terrain Mapping and Analysis

Do all but Task 6.

 

Questions:

1)      What is the highest mean annual precipitation value for the watersheds in Task 3, Chapter 11? 

 

2)      In Task 1.5, Chapter 12, you use symbology to show the slopes by degrees with break values of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 53. Step 3 says that Reclassify in Spatial Analyst would look the same.  What is the difference?

 

3)      How many cells were visible from both lookouts in Task 2, Chapter 12?

 

4)      Explain briefly and in your own words how a flow direction grid and a flow accumulation grid are formed.

 

5)      What does the streamlink function do?
