CURRENT PROJECT

small logo

October 8, 2004-December 15, 2004:

ITS Lab projects- Worked on the sign project and some of the AutoCAD drawings for the Freeway and Sign project. I also loan support to miscellaneous project in the lab, specifically the Transit Single Priority (TSP) project

Structural Project- Designed and built a stud wall to use with the testing equipment for the project. Developed and poured concrete forms to be tested for there reactions. I provided the structural support for the project and technicians operating the testing equipment.

September 23, 2004-October 8, 2004: Tarek came with the extension needed to create the ACAD extension for the drawing. We made some progressed on the development of the sign presentation. On Tuesday, October 5 I made some minor alterations to the sign that Steve e-mailed me. Helped Andy with trying to make a jpeg out of the Freeway map from AutoCAD or the PDF file I have. Constructed the long box for Dr. Rad's Project and worked on getting the RF Shielding from Dr Singh. Worked on the sign that Steve sent me and helped Andy with trying to make a jpeg out of the Freeway map

August 24 –September 22, 2004: I worked on creating a GIS map of the Portland Metro Region for the First Annual Portland Metropolitan Region Transportation System Performance Report. Installed traffic count and GPS software on the Palm Pilots. Struggle more on developing a GIS map of the WIMs and freeway. Then, tried to figure out how to make a GIS shapefile into a DXF file. Handed over the truck rollover data to Erin and taught her how I made the Truck Rollover map. Look more at the MUTCD Manual and development of the Sign presentation with the CAD files Steve sent me. Demolished a reaction wall and built the platform and the small box for the RescueNet Project for Dr. Rad.

August 16- August 23, 2004: Through searching the web for CA, ID, OR, NV, and WA annual reports, I was able to in Inventory the number of state troopers for each state. Then we worked on updating a fatal crash data spreadsheet that Chris had created in previous years. With the fatal crash spreadsheet, I created new graphs and continued checking for errors in the data.

July 28-August 15, 2004: Worked on the errors in Chris's Truck Rollover Data. Started on the editing and adding to the presentation on PSU signs. Read the Central Transportation Plan and tried to find some of the ordinance that are referenced in the document on the PSU expansion from PDOT. Also learned about the future plans for mass transit, traffic, and parking in the downtown region. Presented my PowerPoint presentation on the where old PSU signs are and were to add new ones to make the university stand out from the Portland downtown. I plotted the 3rd floor drawings of the new engineering building that shows the location of the new ITS lab. Worked on getting my hands on the University District Plan and e-mailing Steve on the getting the SignCAD drawings. Installed Syncro on 5 of the lab computers have not experimented with the program yet. Found the University District Plan, and also looked for the Mainstreet and Traffic Calming guides on the web and looked up other stuff for the CE Transportation Class this year.

July 16-July 27, 2004: Read through the plans for Portland State University 's expansion. Drafted a Letter to PDOT of there ideas and Created a PowerPoint presentation for the locations of the existing guide signs. Worked on mapping the GIS Crash Data for Chris and went over my Freeway Presentation. Worked on the GIS Crash data and documenting the errors that developed when the data was queried.

July2-July15, 2004: I worked on the Slides and improving the Picture Quality. Researched Signing and looked over the DVLs. Wrote drafts to e-mail people at PSU on the Transportation and worked on the consolidation of the Layer for ACAD Drawing.

June 29-July 1, 2004: Attended the HSM Conference. We worked on adding the Cameras, RWIS and VMS to the drawing. I worked on contacting people on the Sign of PSU. We worked to make each device different from the others with text and point formats.

June 18-June 28, 2004: Figured out what Tarek need for info on the points that I am plotting for the AutoCAD Drawing. We worked on entering the new data points like VMS, ATR, and others into the map. Tested Neil's manual for installing the CID and worked on the flyer for the safety conference. I looked over the AutoCAD drawings for the errors and possible ways to distinguish between ATRs and the loops. I made some minor adjustments to the road and the positioning of the ATRs. Meeting on projects and assigned a new project on signing of PSU.
