Listening, reading and structure pretests, go over syllabus; HW:  1) Buy book, packet; 2) Skim packet; 3) Study packet Portfolio Description, evaluation checklists; 4) Skim book pp. 1-12; 5) If necessary, do CBT tutorial on CD (pp. 13-34); 6) Do Listening , Structure, and Reading Diagnostics (CD--Test #1 in Study/Practice Mode)--Be sure to read printing instructions in the packet before you do this!; 7) Bring diagnostic test results to the next class.
Day 2 
Weds, 7/7
Introduce daily structure warmups; Go through packet, portfolio description; diagnostic analysis in-class;  Discussion of whole-test strategies. Packet structure test B. HW:  1) Finish anlayzing listening, structure and reading diagnostic tests;  2) Prepare portfolio--insert analyses, comments, vocabulary; 4) Study book pp. 73-75, 123-124 (listening strategies); 5) Analyze and comment on Packet structure test B.  Bring portfolio to next class.
Day 3 
Mon, 7/12
Review of whole-test and listening strategies; Listening minitests L12, L19, (L25 if time). Introduction to structure strategies; packet structure test A with class discussion and analysis. HW:  1) Read structure strategies pp. 163-164; 2) Do packet structure test C, score, analyze, and comment; 3) Read reading strategies pp. 285-289; 4) optional--listening practice L1-L18 (whatever you need to work on).
Day 4 
Weds, 7/14
Listening minitests (L19), L25, L30 w/practice visualizing, predicting questions (differences between CBT and paper tests), eliminating wrong answers; Review of structure strategies pp. 163-164; Structure minitests S16, S24, S36 (as time allows); Review of reading strategies and passage approaches. HW:  1) Do packet reading tests A and B--score, analyze, comment; 2) (optional) structure ex. S1-S35;  3) (optional) listening ex. L1-L29
Day 5 
Mon, 7/19
Review reading strategies; Reading Minitest R4 (vocab.) p. 305.  Finding Main ideas with topic sentences and key words; in-class practice with main ideas.  Reading minitest R8 (main ideas) p. 314.  Packet reading test C.  HW:  1) Analyze, comment on packet reading test C; 2) as needed, R1 - R8; 3) Read  pp. 213-216 (word form), pp. 220-223 (word choice).
Day 6

Minitests L37 p. 141, L41 p. 149, S51 p. 228.  Group work writing main ideas (packet C3); review of whole-test strategies and section strategies. HW: 1)Bring portfolio to next class; 2) As needed, L1 - L40, S1 - S50, R1 - R7,  packet listening tests 1 and 2 (tapes in Learning Center); 3) at home or in the LC, do Practice Test 2 on the CD; 4) analyze, comment on PT2; 5) Study pp. 230-231, 233-234 (clauses, noun clauses).
