Journal Entries

Purpose:  Keeping a journal of your field days will serve several purposes. If you participate in the journaling activities along with your students, your journal will help you become more aware of your surroundings by putting observations on paper. This will also establish you as a co-learner during the field day.  It will help you keep a record of your mentoring skills and will help you to remember items to discuss later with Wolftree staff or with Rick.

The weekly reflection topics are intended to help you focus each week on a specific aspect of your mentoring skills.  Making this a part of your weekly field journal will help you maintain this focus during each field day.

Journal Format: Please use the header outline below for each journal entry.  The header will help Rick understand the context of your field day and keep accurate records.  It will also help you remember your students' names and keep you focused on the weekly topic.

Each jounal should have the following header which should be turned in:

    your name        today's date        week#
    "field" site         teacher's name    class grade level
    module        mentoring partner
    weekly reflection topic
    your students' names and optionally a short observation about each student

The next section will have your journaling activites, data, notes, etc.  This section need not be turned in

The last section will be your weekly reflection.

Turn in your reflection with appropriate journal header in the next
class period.
