Critical Thinking
Throughout the Lego robotic labs critical thinking has played a large role. Our first Lego assignment was to make a Lego car roll 15 feet with the torque of just a rubber band. This was a very difficult assignment and made me use critical thinking and also forced me to be creative and think on my feet. This also highly improved my thinking skills. I am a strong believer in the concept of “practice makes perfect”. Since I was assigned many readings throughout this term my reading skills have greatly improved with all of the practice. This concept also applies to my increased level of being able to respond thoughtfully to scholarly texts through the many essays that I have written throughout this term. Since all of our assignments where we have to write an essay are about making arguments and supporting them, I have had much experience and have approved greatly in this area. One example of an assignment where I was engaged in investigating was the Wallace and Grommet Lego assignment. Through this assignment I was forced to figure out how to work the Lego Robotics software and program my machine to run off of a light sensor, turn a bed, and catapult a piece of toast.
