COURSE OBJECTIVE:  This course examines the development and physical characteristics of landforms.  The goal of the course is to enhance student understanding of how landforms are created through constructional (e.g., tectonic and volcanic) and erosional processes (e.g., weathering and mass-wasting).  Landform identification and the relationship between landforms and climate are also emphasized as students explore how landforms differ among arid, glacial, periglacial, and coastal environments.  Human influences on landform development and processes are also addressed.

PREREQUISITES:

Introductory physical geography or consent of instructor;  Introduction to Geology or

            Earth Science desirable.

GRADING:

Final grades will be based on:

       1.  Class participation 10%

       2.  Mid-term 20%

       3.  Book Review 15%

       4.  Term project 30%

       5.  Final exam 25%

Exams will consist of matching, true/false, multiple guess, problem solving, definitions, slide identification, short and long essay questions.  Final grades for the course will be curved.        Students who feel they have a learning disability that may affect their performance are encouraged to meet with me as soon as possible so that accommodations can be made.
