Erik earned his Ph.D. at the Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL) in Near-Field Microscopy (ESR/Physics), while attending Portland State University. After graduating, he continued at Harvard University in the Chemistry and Chemical Biology Department. There, he set up a new single molecule lab with Prof. Xie, while establishing a Near-Field Microscopy Research Program.
