Author's note: I don't own Gundam Wing or its characters. I also don't own the song You're Still The One. Don't sue me.
You're Still The One
Looks like we made it
Look how far we've come my baby
We might-a took the long way
We knew we'd get there someday
Noin Marquise smiled at her husband, asleep on the couch; their infant daughter, Mara, sleeping on his chest. It was a peaceful Saturday on Mars.
Noin couldn't believe how the red planet had changed since she and Zechs arrived several years ago. The housing for all personnel was now located in a green park like area that rivaled Earth. It had been hard work that Noin had chosen when she decided to go with Zechs, but she wouldn't change that decision for anything.
They said "I bet they'll never make it"
But just look at us holding on
We're still together still going strong
Fifteen year old Noin turned the corner and ran into someone; her books spilled to the ground. She quickly went to her knees to pick them up.
"I'm sorry."
"No, it's my fault," a young male voice said.
She looked up to see a pair of intense blue eyes looking at her through glass. The boy in front of her wore a silver mask covering most of his head. A mane of platinum blond hair fell from beneath the mask.
"I'm Zechs. Zechs Marquise," he said handing her the last of her books.
"Noin."
"You're in my history class, aren't you?"
"Yeah."
They parted ways, but something about that masked boy had caught her interest, and, years later she realized, her heart.
You're still the one I run to
The only one that I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
Noin flopped on to the grass; she was exhausted. Closing her eyes, she let her mind drift as her companion sat down beside her.
"I swear if I see one more test question, I'm going to go insane."
Zechs laughed, "Look on the bright side, Noin. You'll never have to take the exams again."
Both of the nineteen year olds were in their last year of school at Lake Victoria Military Academy. As the top students the pressure on them was intense. After meeting in their first year, Noin and Zechs became best friends. She was one of the few people that the young man trusted. As well as the only one at school who knew his secret; that he was really Prince Milliardo Peacecrafft of the Sanc Kingdom.
Noin had also realized that she loved him, not that she had told him that. She was content to help him achieve his goals, or at least that was what she kept telling herself.
"Come on, let's see if we can beat the rush to dinner," Zechs said offering her a hand up.
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss goodnight
Noin sighed and tossed her jacket onto her couch. It had been another long day. Ever since Libra had been destroyed, she had been busy with one thing or another. Currently she was helping Sally and Lady Une set up the Preventers; an organization whose job it would be to prevent another war from occurring.
Being busy was a good thing; it kept her from thinking about him. And it kept her from dreaming sometimes. Noin knew Zechs was still alive. She didn't know how she knew, she just did. Unfortunately, that knowledge did not keep her from dreaming about him almost every night.
She picked up the picture frame on the table next to the couch. It held the only picture she had of Zechs without his mask on. The Polaroid had been taken in her quarters after they had found out their exam results. He had gotten top score and she had just been three points below him, the second highest.
"Zechs, please come back soon," Noin whispered.
Ain't nothin' better
We beat the odds together
I'm glad we didn't listen
Look at what we would be missin'
A smile crossed her face as Noin glanced at her companion. Zechs was really here with her; he'd showed up just in time to help stop Dekim Barton from taking over Earth.
"The course is set for Mars. The autopilot will take it from here."
"Great," she responded. "I could use about two days of sleep. Sally and I were working almost nonstop since all this started."
"Noin are you really sure you want to do this?"
"Zechs, the next time you ask me that I'm going to knock you out. I've already repeated myself."
You're still the one I run to
The only one I belong to
You're still the one I want for life
Noin dangled her legs over a Martian cliff; she was looking down on the terraforming project. It had been three months since she and Zechs had arrived. And despite the fact that it was hard work, Noin was enjoying herself immensely.
An arm snaked around her waist. Resting her head on Zechs' shoulder, Noin continued stargazing. "Noin."
"Hm?"
"I was wondering," he slipped something on the fourth finger of her left hand, "would you marry me?"
She looked down; a silver and sapphire ring adorned her hand.
"Yes."
They shared a tender kiss, oblivious to the shooting stars that began to fill the sky. The meteor shower they had come to watch forgotten.
You're still the one that I love
The only one I dream of
You're still the one I kiss goodnight
"Zechs," Noin nudged her sleeping husband.
"Hm?"
"I think I'm going into labor."
Several hours later, an exhausted Noin held her little daughter. The girl's head was covered with platinum blond fuzz and her eyes were a deep violet color.
"She's beautiful."
"Do you want to hold her, Zechs?"
Zechs gently took his daughter from his wife."
Excuse me, have you two decided on a name?" a nurse asked.
"Her name is Mara Tenshi Alira Marquise."
I'm so glad we made it Look how far we've come my baby
Noin smiled, as Mara grasped a handful of her father's hair in her sleep. The woman picked up her Polaroid and snapped a picture of the sight. This was definitely where she wanted to be.
