Author's note: I do not own Gundam Wing or its characters. I also do not own the song Ordinary Day. Please don't sue me; I'm just another overworked student who writes for fun in her spare time.

Ordinary Day

Just a day

Just an ordinary day

Just trying to get by

Noin sighed; she felt so lost here at school. It had gotten her away from the manipulative control freaks who called themselves her family, but it also had her at a loss. She hated fighting and wanted no part in war.

Just a boy

Just an ordinary boy

But he was looking to the sky

Zechs sat down beside her, and she smiled. He was definitely one of the good points of going to school. They had quickly become friends after their first meeting. Zechs was an enigma to most, but Noin didn't have problems getting to know him. Then again, he understood her so well it was eerie.

"Noin, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," it was her usual response to everyone.

And as he asked if I would come along

I started to realize

That everyday you find

Just what he's looking for

Like a shooting star he shines

"That's a lie, and we both know it. Noin, you're my best friend; please tell me."

She sat in silence her hands visibly shaking. He reached over and covered them with his own.

"Trust me."

He said take my hand

Live while you can

Don't you see that your dreams are right in the palm of your hand

Her story began to pour out. About being sent to live with her family's friends when she was two because they didn't want her. About watching her foster family massacred before her eyes. About returning to her family as an eight year old, and them not even letting her go to the funerals. About being ignored for the next five years. About running with the street kids and learning to be a thief. About being sent here.

All throughout it he stayed. He held her when she cried and listened to her story.

And as he spoke

He spoke ordinary words

Although they did not feel

For I felt what I had not felt before

You'd swear those words could heal

When she had finished, he did something he had never done before. He took off the silver mask he always wore in public. Noin stared in shock at the face of an angel. He began to tell her his story. Of the fall of the Sanc Kingdom. Of his life in hiding. Of why he was here. And Noin knew why he understood her so well.

And as I looked up into those eyes

His vision borrows mine

And to know he's no stranger

For I feel I've held him for all time

He too knew the pain of losing his family. For a moment Noin knew something in her heart. But the moment passed, and that knowledge hid itself for another time.

"Can I help?" she asked.

Zechs looked at her in surprise, "If you want to." He paused a moment, "It would be wonderful to have someone to share all my secrets with."

She wrapped her hand around his, "You do."

And he said take my hand

Live while you can

Don't you see your dreams are right in the palm of your hand

Right in the palm of your hand

After that Noin didn't mind school so much; she had a purpose now. And a friend she could completely trust. Years changed, but that friendship remained and grew stronger. She never regretted deciding to trust Zechs.

Please come with me

See what I see

Touch the stars for time will not flee

Time will not flee

Can you be

Noin awoke alone in her bed feeling a moment of disorientation. Where was she? When was she? Her memories of school were fresh in her mind. Her sleep fogged mind finally told her that this was her apartment. She stared at her bed thinking, "Should I be alone?"

Just a dream

Just an ordinary dream

As I wake in bed

And that boy

That ordinary boy

Or was it all in my head

Did he ask if I would come along

It all seemed so real

Zechs appeared in the doorway, "Noin love, are you all right?"

She smiled remembering, "Just a little confused from dreams."

"Maybe we should have Sally take a look at that bump on your head."

"I'm fine." She laid a hand on her stomach, "We're both fine."

But as I looked to the door

I saw that boy standing there with a deal

And he said take my hand

Live while you can

Don't you see your dreams are right in the palm of your hand

Right in the palm of your hand

Right in the palm of your hand

Zechs settled back into bed with her, "Speaking of you two, you both need your sleep."

She stuck her tongue out at him; he tousled her hair.

"Sleep love."

Just a day

Just a boy

Just an ordinary boy
