Author's note: I don't own Gundam Wing or its characters. I also do not own the song No More Cry.

No More Cry

Noin found him sitting on the roof his silver mask beside him.

"Hey," she said softly so not to startle him. He didn't respond. She sat down next to him. She knew what was wrong; today was the anniversary of the fall of the Sanc Kingdom. That always depressed Zechs.

I wanna feel just like before

Before the rain came in my door

Shook me up turned me around

Made me cry till I would drown

Stole the daylight brought the night

So much anger I would fight

Lost my youth amid the blue

Saw all the loneliness in you

They had a lot in common. Both had lost their families to the Alliance. And both had list the loneliness they felt when they had become friends. But there were still hard times, and anniversaries were the worst. They tried to support each other through them.

Wanna help you give you love

Shine some light out from the mud

Fill the empty find a rhyme

A brighter day a better time

But I'm wondering where I've gone

Can't fin the truth within my song

And all I have I'll give to you

To let you know you're not alone

She covered his hand with her own. How long they sat like that she didn't know. Finally he spoke, "Thanks friend."

"No problem."

He noticed the neat row of Band-Aids on her forearm, "What happened to your arm? It was fine earlier."

Noin sighed, "I broke up another hazing attempt. We have got to do something about this; it's getting worse."

I'm telling you

I'm smiling for you only

I'm trying for you solely

I'm praying for you only

No more cry

No more cry

Zechs shook his head, "What is it with the older students? I don't remember there being this kind of hazing at our old school."

"The only problem is they don't try it on us, so we can't report it as something we've experienced. You'd think the older students were afraid of us or something."

"Can you blame them? The teachers are always pairing us with each other or seniors for self defense class. They try something with us and they could get thrown into a wall."

"But we would never do that."

"But they don't know that," and he might be tempted to if one of those bullies seriously hurt Noin; the fact that it was a fellow student hurting her would keep her from protecting herself.

I wanna hear you laugh again

Without the ache to bring you down

No we'll never be the same

If only I could take your pain

But it's still true what people say

There is beauty in each day

We'll find comfort in her strength

One day soon we'll meet again

Zechs slid an arm around her shoulders, "I'm glad I met you that night on the roof. I'm not sure I would have made it this far without you."

"You would have."

"Maybe, but it would have been a lot less fun."

Noin grinned, "True. But you do realize that once we graduate, they'll probably split us up."

"I know, but that won't end our friendship."

"Of course not. Pinkie swears last forever."

They both laughed at that.

I'm telling you

I'm smiling for you only

I'm trying for you solely

I'm praying for you

No more cry

No more cry

Noin rested her head on his shoulder, "We have another two years before we graduate. Let's just enjoy the time we have."

He nodded. In truth he wasn't really looking forward to graduation. Until he had met Noin, he had never realized how lonely he was. Things wouldn't be the same without her. Who would watch his back then? And who would watch hers?

If he managed to avenge his family, about all he would have left would be Noin's friendship. But somehow that was enough.

I'm singing for you only

I worry for you only

But it's you saves me from lonely

No more cry

No more cry

Zechs idly brushed her bangs from her face, "Come on, I bet we can sneak a pint of Ben and Jerry's out of the kitchen without anyone noticing."

She grinned, "You're on."

Her bright violet eyes caught his, and for a moment he was frozen.

"Zechs, what are you waiting for?"

He shook his head, "Nothing."

But as he slid his mask back on, he had realized something. That bright eyed, gentle spirited girl was his future. And he would do just about anything to protect her. Vengeance was no longer his main reason for living.

Reach out for your love

Shout out for your love

Listen for your love

Believe in her love

Noin grinned at her best friend. Most people thought they were the most serious students in the school; they had never seen the two of them with ice cream. They were perched in the window of an empty classroom. She shook her head slightly at the silver mask. She knew it protected him, but ever since she had learned what lay beneath it, Noin had regretted its existence.

The mask had one benefit though; it hid his eyes. Noin found it way too easy to drown in his eyes. He had changed her life. Zechs had given her a purpose when she had been at a loss. He had understood how it felt to lose one's family.

And she had fallen in love with him. Noin had fallen for both the serious student everyone saw and the sweet young man only she knew. He was her future, she hoped. But she didn't tell him how she felt. Noin was afraid to lose their precious friendship; his friendship was all she had. So she would remain by his side and help him achieve his goals. And maybe someday, she would tell him.

But not today.

I'm telling you

I'm smiling for you only

I'm trying for you solely

I'm praying for you only

No more cry

No more cry

I'm singing for you only

Hey I worry for you only

But it's you saves me from lonely

No more cry

No more cry

No more cry

No more cry
