Ashley caught herself biting her nails and quickly stuck her hand s in her pockets. Andros, Zhane, and Kerone had been called back to KO-35 because of an emergency. That had been three weeks ago, and she hadn't heard anything from them since. And that worried her; it wasn't like Andros at all.

Damn these old wheels

Rollin' too slow

I stare down this white line

With so far to go

Headlights keep comin'

Loneliness hummin' along

Her family was slightly worried about her. Especially her brother. He did whatever he could to cheer her up. Most of the time, she would put on a smile for him and go along to make him happy. But her heart wasn't in it.

Who poured this rain

Who made these clouds

I stare through the windshield

Thinkin' out loud

Time keeps on crawlin'

Love keeps on calling me home

After they had all returned to Earth, Ashley's parents had insisted she go to college. Andros hadn't minded. In fact, he, Zhane, and Kerone had taken several classes themselves.

I'd jump all these mountains

And take to the skies

Sail through the heavens

With stars in my eyes

Ashley and Andros had talked about the future once or twice, but they had made no plans. After all, they had another two years before they had to make any decisions.

Ashley's parents weren't quite so sure about their relationship, but Ashley knew. She loved Andros with all her heart, and he felt the same way. It didn't matter to her that he was from another planet or that they has very different backgrounds. Their love was enough.

Her love was with him now even if she wasn't. She sighed as she looked in the mirror. A young woman in blue jeans and a yellow tank top stared back at her. The necklace Andros had given her lay around her neck. Why had she agreed to go to this party again?

"Ready Ash?" her brother popped his head into her room.

"Yeah, I guess."

"Come on; you'll have a blast."

She sighed but let him drag her out of the house. After a short drive, they arrive at the party.

She caught sight of Cassie in the crowd.

"Hey Cass, what are you doing here?"

"Saryn's out of town for the weekend, so I thought I'd drop by the party."

Before they could find a quiet corner to chat in, Jeff returned with a guy his age.

"Sorry to interrupt ladies. Cassie, can I steal Ashley for a minute?"

"Of course," she replied.

"Ash, this is my friend Josh. Josh, this is my sister Ashley," with that he left them on their own.

"Would you like to dance?"

Ashley was about to say no when she felt a familiar presence in her mind.

Cut loose from this road

That keeps tying me down

"I'm sorry; my boyfriend just arrived," Ashley replied before spinning around searching for Andros.

He was standing by the patio door along with Zhane and Kerone. In an instant, she was in his arms.

"I'm sorry it took me so long to get back."

"I'm just glad you're here now."

A Faith Hill song came on.

"Do you want to dance?"

"I'd love to."
