Zechs smiled at the sleeping figure sitting at his desk. Noin must have been waiting for him. Gently he touched her shoulder, "Noin, wake up."

She stirred and yawned, "Zechs?"

He smiled at her, "Let's go home."

The two of them shared an apartment about a half an hour's walk from Preventer Headquarters. It was large and spacious with a wonderful view of the city. It was also very comfortable and to their tastes.

Noin blinked as she entered the apartment. Candles provided the only light and seemed to lead into the dining room. She looked at her partner, "Zechs?"

He just gave her a mysterious smile and led her to the dining room. The table was set for two with the fine and and candlelight. Zechs offered her a chair and disappeared into the kitchen.

He returned shortly with dinner. The food was delicious and happened to be one of her favorite meals. They linger over the meal just enjoying their time together. Too often meals were bites snatched while working on some case. But still, she couldn't help wonder where this was leading.

Dessert was chocolate mousse. Zechs was certainly going all out tonight. But she got no answer when she asked what all this was about.

After dinner Zechs led her by the hand to the living room. As music began to play he asked, "May I have this dance milady?"

She giggled, "I'd be honored your highness."

He swept her into a waltz. They circled the floor several times. Noin stopped trying to figure out what was going on and just enjoyed the moment. After all Zechs was never one to give away a surprise.

The two of them settled on the couch giggling after several dances. Noin rested her head on Zechs' shoulder, "Thank you, it's been a lovely evening."

"It's not over yet."

"It's not?"

"No, it's not," with that he captured her lips in a sweet kiss.

We got everything and more the we had planned

Noin was breathless when the kiss ended. Zechs smiply grinned down at her and placed a velvet puch tied with a violet ribbon in Noin's hands. She tugged at the ribbon, and the velevt unfolded revealing a slim silver ring that held a pale blue diamond. She blinked in surprise. Zechs' eyes were intensely blue, "I was hoping you'd be willing to make me the luckiest man on the planet and agree to marry me."

A soft smile lit her face, "I'd love to."

She giggled at his sigh of relief, "What, you thought I'd say no? Think again Marquise. I love you, and I'm not about to let you get away."

He slid the ring onto her left hand, "I'm rather glad to hear that."

Noin laughed again and pulled him down for another kiss.
