Course Description

This course is designed to help you acquire the skills you need to adjust to life in Portland and life at the university. Your attendance and active participation in this class are important to your success. Absences will lower your final grade. Late homework will not be accepted. Active participation means that you are prepared to participate in class activities. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes. Shyness is not an excuse for poor participation. Try to speak out. Lastly, many of the assignments in this course will involve using the tapes that go with the book or speaking with native speakers. Be prepared to do your best.
