Text:   O'Grady, W., Archibald, J., Aronoff, M.,  Rees-Miller, J.  (2005).

Contemporary Linguistics:  An Introduction  (5th edition)

Ø                                 Midterm (25%)

Ø                                 Final Exam (25%)

Course Requirements:

Ø      Problem Sets  (25% of total grade)

Ø      Homework/Attendance/Participation (25%)

Problem sets (distributed a week before they are due) and exams will be based on readings, lectures, and homework exercises.  Homeworks (exercises from the book) will be assigned for each chapter and will be turned in and graded for completion, not correctness, on the last day of the topic.  Late problem sets will receive a 10% reduction.  Problem Sets will not be accepted after the answers have been given out.  Your grade will suffer if you do not turn in all of the problem sets/homework and do not attend class (attendance taken at random).  Late homework will be accepted up until the test for that section (midterm/final) (only worth 70%).  Homework will be gone over in class and should be completed by the first day of the topic for best results.  They must be turned in by the last day of the topic for full credit.  Lectures will be posted to website shortly before or after each class.  The final problem set and homework will be handed back before the final if they are turned in by Tuesday 11/27/2007.
