Phonology Winter 2012 – LING 512 – Grad Student Presentations

 

I would like you to present (using Power Point but can also use whiteboard) a lecture on another Phonological analysis framework we haven’t discussed in class.  Here are the things you should include:

 

            A little history about when and where the framework came from and who the major proponents (names) of the framework are.

            A thorough description of what the framework is.

            What is this framework good for?  How is it different from what we’ve learned in class and what types of phenomena was it created to handle?  How does our framework handle these phenomena and how is your framework better/worse than the one we learned in class?

            Go through a thorough analysis of data to show off how your phonological theoretical framework is used.

            The presentation should take about 30 mins but no more than 45 mins.
