Reputation: is a variable ability that will increase and decrease according to the situation. Reputation is a measure of the characters popularity and public image. Reputation depends on what your hero does in public and how the press reacts to him. Reputation is awarded on a day-to-day basis as it takes time for information to move through the media.

For heroes with secret identities, keep track of the heroic and the normal identity's Reputation. This also applies to characters with multiple heroic or villainous identities, as Reputation is earned for each identity separately. In some cases a successful Bluff or Disguise check can allow a character to use someone elses Reputation, with GMs permission.

This system replaces both the Fame and Infamy feats from the basebook.

Depending on the circumstances your Reputation can help or hinder Interaction checks (M&M p. 148), Trial checks (see Crooks!), and uses of the Bluff, Diplomacy, Disguise, Gather Information, Intimidate, Perform, and Taunt skills, as well as in any other appropriate (GMs decision) situation.

Reputation cannot be Mimiced, Drained, Neutralized, Transfered or effected in any way other than overt public action.

As an non-standard ability there are no upper or lower limits to Reputation, it starts at +0, and is modified according to the chart below:
