Talk Story
by Christina Hartman
My Talk Story was not the best speaking I've ever done, which sucks because it was video taped. I had to tell a story last spring, and the story I chose was about a friend of mine named Dorothy who is 93 years old. Dorothy and I have crocheted together a couple of times a month for over a year now and she has so many stories to tell. She has a charm bracelet, a charm necklace, and even charm earrings completely loaded down with charms from all of the places she has been, and every one of them tells a story. The story I told though, was about her brother.

Dorothy's two brothers were soldiers in WWII (let's call them Danny and David). Danny and David both were departing on battleships on the same day. They each got onto their respective battleships and took off. While they were still in sight of each other, David's battleship was hit by a torpedo or a missle or something. Case in point, the ship sunk, most of the sailors died including David, and Danny had to watch the ship he knew his brother was on sink. Dorothy had sent David a package full of Christmas cookies she had made him, and the package was returned to her. I thought that was the most depressing part.

This wasn't my best speech because I was very nervous and I kept fidgeting and I couldn't make it anywhere near 3 minutes. I'm pretty sure this would fit under the "communication" goal becauase I had to communicate orally.
