Battle of Inverlochy

The Battle of Inverlochy in February 1645 followed Montrose’s victorious first battle against the Covenanters at Tippermuir. Argyll led the Campbell Clan and other Highlanders to within 30 miles of Montrose’s army. When Montrose heard that Argyll was behind him, he marched his troops over the mountains and met his enemy’s troops head on. At the end of the day, Montrose had lost 8 men while Argyll had lost over 1500.
