Battle of Dunkeld
Feeling confident following the Battle of Killiekrankie, the Jacobites attacked Dunkeld in the same year (1689). The town was being held by the Covenanting Cameronians that had been formed into a regiment that April by the Earl of Angus. In the attack, most of the Dunkeld buildings and houses were destroyed, but the Battle of Dunkeldbrought victory for the newly formed Cameronians that defended the town against 3000 Highlanders loyal to William of Orange.
