Battle of Cromdale

In 1690 the Jacobite forces confronted the MacDonalds, Macleans, Camerons, MacPhersons and Grants of Invermoriston on the Haughs of Cromdale. A surprise attack by the leader of the government troops killed or captured some 400 Jacobites. The Battle of Cromdale has been immortalized by the traditional ballad “The Haughs of Cromdale.”
