Student Research Symposium

Sigma Xi Columbia-Willamette Chapter will hold its fifth annual Symposium of poster papers
by undergraduate and graduate students in the sciences, social sciences, and engineering. The
posters-only Symposium is open to undergraduate and graduate students affiliated with colleges
and universities in the Portland area. The Symposium will be held at Portland State University
on Thursday, April 9, 2009, in the Smith Memorial Student Center Ballroom. Awards will be given
for the best undergraduate and graduate posters in several categories. The Symposium provides
practice for presentations at regional and national meetings in students’ own disciplines. The
symposium is open to the public, and admission is free.
• Abstracts are due Friday, April 3, 2009.
• Posters will be put up between 9:00 and 10:00 am on April 9.
• Posters will be judged without students present between 10:00 am and 12:00 noon.
• Students will be interviewed by judges from 12:30 to 2:30 pm.
• Public viewing is from 1:30 to 4:30 pm onward.
• Award ceremony starts at 4:15 pm.
• Paid parking is available at Parking 3 (between 12th and 13th Avenues).
Admission is Free
