Special Notes:
- The old "yourlogin@odin.cc.pdx.edu" e-mail address
will still work, but you can now use "yourlogin@pdx.edu" also.
This change shortens your e-mail address and should make it
easier for people to remember.
If you are subscribed to any mailing lists with your old e-mail, you may
need to resubscribe with your new e-mail address. Some mailing lists will
reject any messages coming from a different e-mail address other than the one
than the one you subscribed with.
- All user's files and mail spool are shared between the old ODIN and the
New ODIN.
Example: if your PSU login ID is "joesc" then your e-mail of
"joesc@odin.cc.pdx.edu" and "joesc@pdx.edu" will both go to the same
mail spool. Your files will not be different between the new ODIN and
the old ODIN.
- The operating systems are different between the new ODIN and the old ODIN.
If you have compiled any programs on the old ODIN then you will need to
recompile them on the new ODIN
- For Advanced users: The new ODIN is actually two servers. When
you log in to "odin.pdx.edu" you will be placed on one of the servers in
"Round Robin" sequence. To see who is logged on to both machines type:
"rwho -a".
