Accessing your PSU web pages from Windows 95/98/NT




This tutorial will instruct you on how to make your files on the PSU unix server available as a drive on your local windows PC. This is also known as mapping a network drive.

Note: To use Network Drive Mapping you will need to change your password at: http://www.account.pdx.edu/passwd This will initialize your password for Windows Network Drive Mapping

Windows 95/98/ME Instructions

Mapping network drives on Windows 95/98 can be difficult and not recommended please refer to the documentation at:

Windows NT Instructions

1. Right click on "Network Neigborhod" then choose "Map Network Drive..."

2. In the "Folder" section type \\smb.oit.pdx.edu\username where username is your unix account login name. click "OK"

3. A window will pop up. In the field where is says "connect as" type your unix account login name. where is says "password" type your password exactly. Click "OK"

Your Files should now show up. Please also refer to "mapping a network drive" in the Windows NT help.

Windows 2000/XP Instructions

1. Right click on "My Network Places" then choose "Map Network Drive..."

2. In the "Folder" section type \\smb.oit.pdx.edu\username where username is your unix account login name.

3. Then select "Connect using a different user name" type in your ODIN login name and password. Click "OK"

4. Click "Finish"

Your Files should now show up. Please also refer to "mapping a network drive" in the Windows 2000 help.
