ABOUT

Where to start? Well, I am a California boy born and raised. Out of high school I joined the California Conservation Corps (one of the best experiences of my life). After the CCC I was able to put myself through school and eventually graduated with a B.S. in Biology from CSU, Sacramento.

For a time I had a career as a web application developer. This was during the "dot-com" boom and subsequent bust. It was a good experience and gave me the opportunity to become fluent in a number of programming languages. It was during this time that I became familiar with managing data, a skill which would serve later me well.

I began working in research at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute in 2005 as a programmer III. There was no such thing as a data scientist then, but in retrospect that is exactly what I was. I entered graduate school in 2007 at UC, Davis where I studied Quantitative Psychology. My advising team consisted of Emilio Ferrer, Kevin Grimm, & Keith Widaman. Most recently I've joined the faculty in the Psychology department at Portland State University. Since my time here at Portand State, I've made some great connections with other Quantitatively minded individuals. We regularly meet through the AIMS2 group (Advancement of Interdisciplinary Methodology for Social Science) where we host a Stats-Lunch Brown Bag every week.
